Abstract
Kleinfeld deserves credit for helping renew interest in a fascinating phenomenon. Kleinfeld raises some interesting questions. However, the problem with her analysis is that she goes out on a limb to draw firm, critical, conclusions on the basis of ambiguous evidence.
